Type of impeller

In a submersible pump, you will find two types of impellers. These impellers are recessed impeller and open impeller. Ideally, the recess impeller is the better option for your sump pump. There is one issue, however, that is related to a recessed impeller. They can hardly pass any hard solids. This is because the solids never come into contact with the impeller. In that case, the impeller does not help much in grinding solids.

Sump pump switch

The switch is an essential part of the sump pump. It is rated by the number of cycles that it can perform when it runs. Switch failure comes way sooner than the pump itself. That explains why you need to pay attention to the switch during sump pump installation in Toronto. A reliable switch is the reasons why your sump pump lasts longer as compared to others.

There are three types of sump pump switches. They include float switch, diaphragm switch and digital control switch. The float switch has a float that is attached to a small metal rod. When the water level reaches the float, the float pushes upward to engage the sump pump. A diaphragm switch relies on pit pressure, and the pit pressure increases on the pump bladder to depress the switch.
