FILTER CLOTH PLACED ON TOP OF GRAVEL

Permeable geotextile filter cloth is placed over the gravel that has been poured over the weeping tile.

This happens at the tail end of an exterior waterproofing installation for the home. The objective with the filter cloth is to help ensure that weeds, silt or dirt don’t push down through the gravel, and clog the weeping tile.

Geotextile fabric is heavy duty, environmentally friendly material that is long lasting, excellent for waterproofing applications.

These synthetic fabrics allow for water and air to pass through from the soil layer to the stone layer, but the barriers in the fabric keeps everything else from getting through, down into the pipe.

The end objective is to make sure the drainage weeping tile/pipe is operating at its optimal best.
